Automatically fix theme after switching

Everytime the app switches theme, especially from dark to light. I have to activate "Try to fix theme" in order to see Explorer windows and search correctly, as everything usually is white.

The Fix Theme option works, so it would be good to have the option to automatically execute it after every switch.

Sounds more like a bug. What's your app version, Windows version et cetera?

Open Auto Dark Mode App > go to Settings > Enable Aggressive DWM refresh. I already added a description to that in newer commits. I will probably add a relation to "Try to fix theme".

Hi tried that option and it makes no difference. I am using version 11.1.0.14 and also the latest stable. My Windows version is 25H2 build: 26200.7623.

The same keeps happening even when switching light->dark. I understand automating the "try to fix them" could be a workaround to a bug more than a FR, but it seems to work.

Not really, if I switch theme manually via Windows settings it works correctly.

Automating "Try to fix theme" is exactly what enabling aggressive DWM refresh does.

It's performing the identical operations.
The reason why there is no issue with the Windows control panel is because Microsoft does not want to share (not even with their own Powertoys team) what API calls they're making.

I can add an option to override the aggressive dwm refresh delay (it's 2.5 seconds by default).
And if that fixes it for you, that means your PC for some reason reacts more slowly to theme switches.

You need to download the most recent beta, and open the configuration file.
There you will have to increase the value for DwmRefreshViaColorizationDelay to something higher, like 4000 or 5000.
The number is in milliseconds.
It represents the delay that Auto Dark Mode waits after a theme switch has been performed before it attempts to flicker the Desktop Compositor accent color.

The feature is availble in beta 11.1.0.17.

Also please enable trace logs and share the theme switching operations so we can see which timings are used.

I have the same issue, it's so annoying!

I already have "More aggressive DWM refresh" on and it does nothing.
