Setting up local T network for development purposes

Pre-requirements

Setting up local Ethereum client - Geth

Create directories for Ethereum client data:

$ mkdir ~/ethereum
$ mkdir ~/ethereum/data
$ mkdir ~/ethereum/data/keystore

Generate ethereum accounts

Create a new account for a local Ethereum client and set the password to just password. Please note, for non-development environements you should use a stronger password.

$ geth account new --keystore ~/ethereum/data/keystore

Create a new account for each T peer individually. Peer’s network identifier is derived from the account’s address and all messages from the peer are signed with the private key belonging to the account. Create 5 accounts for 5 peers. For simplicity, please set the password to password.

$ geth account new --keystore ~/ethereum/data/keystore

Initialize chain

Initialize your local Ethereum node from genesis.json file. This allows to issue some tokens to the accounts we just created. We assign tokens to all addresses. The account under alloc is the address of the account prepended with 0x.

Save the path to your data directory and geth client’s account in environment variables:

$ export GETH_DATA_DIR=/Users/piotr/ethereum/data/
$ export GETH_ETHEREUM_ACCOUNT=0x3e208f39da1bc335464f40d85546ad6a1b66a9a4
$ geth --datadir=$GETH_DATA_DIR init genesis.json

Run ethereum client

Start Ethereum client locally using client’s wallet address.
