broken default image links

line 345 --- >>> echo '<td><img src="' . $default . 'not_available_thumb.jpg"/></td></tr>';

From what I can tell the variable $default is not being set and consequently all the image links are broken. Earlier in the project I believe that value was in  constants.php but that file no longer seems to exist.
