Not hearing myself.

Macbook pro 16" 2021 Sonoma 14.6.1. I am trying to play online with a friend in another country. I play with Max 9. My interface is a Clarett+4 Pre. I have downloaded BlackHole 16, as I sometimes play quadraphonic, along with sonobus-net translate. I have set it up so that my friend can hear me perfectly, as well as his own signal. For some reason, I can hear him, but not myself! Of course I have no idea where the problem is: Is it in Black Hole, or Sonobus, or Max 9 or Scarlett or the computer. I looked for step by step installation instructions but couldn't find clear, up-to-date ones for Mac. All suggestions are more than welcome, and thanks in advance.

Thanks Devin, it turns out I had already done everything right... except I had left the monitor volume at zero on the Sonobus window! That's about the same as not looking to see if you've actually plugged something in! Anyway, it's all workiing now. Thanks again for taking the time to answer!
