Lately, I’ve been thinking about how most Fossify app icons look very uniform — they all share a similar style and color tone. While consistency is great, this uniformity makes the app drawer feel a bit flat and less visually engaging.

On the other hand, Google’s icons — though all instantly recognizable as part of one family — use different colors and subtle variations that make each app feel distinct, yet cohesive. It gives their ecosystem a lively, balanced visual appeal.

I wonder if Fossify could explore a similar approach, bringing in multi-colored or more expressive icons while still keeping a unified identity.

You can customize icon colors per app. More icons will be added in the future.

I completely understand the goal of uniformity—it is important for branding.

However, my main point is about Defaults. Most users are busy and won't spend time customising individual icons for every app, but the visual appeal still affects how they perceive the quality of the suite compared to ecosystems like Google or Proton. Those apps manage to be 'unified' while still having distinct, vibrant colours out-of-the-box.

I'm not trying to be critical or demand you do this work yourself! I just want to keep the door open: If a designer in the community contributed a set of icons that maintained the Fossify identity but offered that 'Proton-like' distinctiveness and visual appeal by default, would the project be open to adopting them? I think it would help with general adoption.
