Pre-purchase question - Changelog theme - can the home page be any page "type"?

I'm looking at the Changelog theme and I believe it fits my needs, I do however wonder how much customization is possible with the home page.

Is the home page locked to be a header + blog posts underneath, or can it be set to another "page type", like the Typography page in the live preview? - https://demo.getpublii.eu/themes/changelog/default/typography/

I also wonder if pages can be made to look like the Typography page in general - just a page, not a blog or anything like that - or if it is a "special page type" in the live preview to show how Typography can be used in blog posts.

Another question that might be obvious - but I want to make sure - can you have images at any place on a post/page, not just in the "header"?

Is there any way to test themes locally before buying them? I'm a student on a tight budget and would prefer to really know what I'm buying before I spend any money.
