Should we reject observations with rmsCorr but no rmsRA and rmsDec?

@stevechesley , Davide noticed that V00 has been submitting observations with rmsCorr but not rmsRA and rmsDec.
The validation doesn't reject them.
At MPC, by default we don't use the correlation from the observers and we didn't notice this problem.

Should we add a rule to the validator and reject the submissions?

This should apply to both 2017 and 2022 versions.

Related : just ran an observation with rmsRA and no rmsDec through the validator, and it validated. I'd think the reasonable combinations are :

• none of rmsRA, rmsDec, rmsCorr;
• rmsRA and rmsDec, no rmsCorr;
• all three.
  (Except for some 19th century observations where RA and dec were measured separately.)

Agreed. So rmsRA and rmsDec must be present as a pair or not at all. And rmsCorr must not be present without rmsRA and rmsDec.

That is fixable. I guess since it was assigned to me I am the stuckee? This issue will stay open until I get it done. I suppose it has only moderate urgency?

In the meantime, the MPC could contact V00 (Melissa B.?) and ask them to change their ways...
