Here is my collection of thoughts using the beta 2 that's not reporting bugs or feature requests, and more general observations that don't fit those two categories
Picture-in-Picture while in the app
I understand that on 4.7.4 the PiP is probably not stock / native to Android and it is using a different implementation.
But because of this, my flow when using pipepipe is usually using PiP while browsing my all feed and channels. This way I can still check any other video description without it replacing the video I'm playing by PiP.
I noticed that this is not the case anymore with 5.0.0 beta 2 as I can't use PiP while in the app.
Sure the current video is still playing in the background and I can still browse other videos looking at the description and comments, and that works for a lot of videos that I put on as background noise, but sometimes I do look at the PiP video.
List refresh feels slower
When I refresh all feed on 5.0.0 beta 2 vs 4.7.4, it just feels a lot slower to finish. Maybe it's just there's no progress indication; this seems to be a bug and will be added though.
Opening a video always show comments first
I kind of dislike this change, if this is a change and not a bug. Make it so like 4.7.4 where the app remembers what video tab it was last.
Overall speed is already snappy.
It's not all "something's changed from the old one, eww" for me. For one, the new version really feels snappy already. An improvement so far I would say even as a beta.
I really miss the mark as watched
sometimes when I rewatch a video, usually going straight to a point to reference something, I then want to mark it watched as like an OCD thing 😛
But real reason I already said in my feature request post. It's because I use official youtube and pipepipe to actively watch videos, and there are overlap. So I'd like to just easily mark as watched instead of playing the video, jump to the last seconds of the video and let it end.
Swiping straight to the end is a gamble if it will show as watched in the history page.
