Features and fixes needed to build realistic VTOL planes. #264

A list of stuff that would make VTOL easier to achieve and more realistic.

  • Electric or bleed air driven lift fans (f35 style) and small diameter jets with short compressor and thrust vectoring (yak-141 style).
  • Bleed air driven RCS config or ideally an actual engine module that uses SolverEngines so that air taken from the compressor for attitude control reduces the available air to the main engine, just like irl. (the model should be very small)
  • New engines that are only a swivel nozzle, no compressor model or an option to disable it (yak38 and harrier style, the same engine feeds 4 nozzles for harrier and 2 for yak38), to be mounted radially and on the side of the fuselage.
  • The current swivel nozzle engines that we got only rotate exactly 90 deg, most real life nozzles rotate 120+ deg. All irl VTOL planes that have fixed thrust vector at the front have it angled slightly aft, requiring the swivel nozzle at the back to achieve angles greater than 90 deg to cancel out the horizontal component of the thrust.
  • The current swivel nozzle engines have thrust vectoring but the gimbal axis dont work correctly when the engine is in the rotated (vertical thrust) position.
  • New counter rotating rotor/propeller hybrid to enable Tail-sitter configurations.

I will expand the list if i find more stuff that could be implemented.
