Hi,
When I try to install it:

$ npm install --save @khanacademy/react-multi-select

npm WARN @khanacademy/[email protected] requires a peer of react@^0.14.7 || ^15.0.0 but none is installed. You must install peer dependencies yourself.

I have react:

$ npm view react version
17.0.2

You can use this to to force add the dependency.
npm install --save @khanacademy/react-multi-select --force
