I updated qtcurve to 1.8.17 on Gentoo. I do not use KDE, but XFCE, although I have a few Qt4 applications. However qtcurve no longer honor my GTK2 font settings I set in XFCE and reverts to default sans-serif font. Qt4 style works as expected, using the font I selected in the Qt configuration tool.

I'd just like to point out that the latest stable release is 1.8.18. Try it; does it solve your problem?
Note that there were some significant bugs with 1.8.18, so you might be better off using the git version at the moment (that's what I'm doing).

Same problem with 1.8.18. I have to go back to version 1.8.16 to get the correct font loaded.
