Sigma Descriptions hard crashes the game when first entering VAB

OS: Linux, Ubuntu 20.04
Mods: Just Sigma Descriptions, no other mods

Description
When running Sigma Descriptions with no configuration, if you enter VAB right after loading a save, the game will hard crash and shut down.

The bug does not trigger if you have a mod that provides configuration for Sigma Descriptions (such as GPP). The bug also does not trigger if you enter tracking station before entering VAB.

How to reproduce

1. Install Sigma Descriptions but no mods that contain description configurations.
2. Load any save.
3. Open VAB, don't do anything else before it.
4. The game crashes and shuts down.

as of now irl is being a bit tough so I don't really know when I will be able to get back into this mod.

Sigma Descriptions also seems to cause random hard crashes when you do have configuration for it. For example, my GPP game crashes about 15% of the time when entering VAB, but these crashes go away when I uninstall Sigma Descriptions.

The difference is that with configuration these crashes happen at random, but without configuration they are very deterministic and can be reproduced with the above instructions.
