Should new elastix binaries still be available for Intel Mac?

We are considering to replace the Intel MacOS builds of elastix of the CI with arm64 MacOS builds, at GitHub Action. New elastix binaries would then no longer be available for Intel Mac. Would that be a problem to anyone here?

I still use Intel Mac, though I'm probably in the minority and hope to migrate to arm64 soonish.

Thanks David! Do you build elastix yourself? If not, do you use the binaries from https://github.com/SuperElastix/elastix/releases ?

We are only considering to stop offering the binaries, for new releases. If we do, elastix may then still remain compilable and buildable on Intel Mac. But users would then have to do it themselves. 🤷

May I ask which macOS version you are using? Our last release (version 5.2.0) was built on macOS 12, but we now build on macOS 13, at the main branch. We are considering to move forward to macOS 14.

Thanks for asking, @N-Dekker! I currently use macOS 14. I actually use binaries from ITK-elastix (via PyPi) and am not sure if it depends on the binaries from SuperElastix/elastix? I have also previously built SimpleElastix but not currently.

In any case, the current releases have been working for me, and I completely understand dropping binaries for Intel Mac to reduce the maintenance cost.
