HPC sessions: improve git handling

Investigate: use git clone --no-checkout in git clone step?

More generally, is it possible to avoid downloading the git repository in the git clone step?

AFAIK, the usual way to minimize the amount of data pulled when cloning is to use --depth 1 which should get you a shallow clone with truncated history.

What would be you goal in this case ?
