No longer possible to select/ highlight text

Tribler 8.1.0, it is no longer possible to select/ highlight text in the, "Files", "Trackers" and "Peers" tabs. The "Details" tab works okay.

Please can this change/ bug be reverted?

I don't think this was an intentional change. @egbertbouman could you confirm?

Correct, text in tables can't be selected any more (see #8370).

Ah, I see. It was intentional, to allow multi-row selection without selecting all text.

@egbertbouman did you already investigate if it is possible to combine multi-row selection with text selection?

No, I haven't. What we could easily do is allow text selection when items in the table aren't selectable.

However, since tables often receive periodic updates, the selection will either change or move. So, you're still not going to have a good experience selecting text.

In that case (brainstorming a bit here), maybe it would be a better idea to add a copy to clipboard to the context menu. That should avoid the shifting selection, but still allow you to copy the values.

Not sure about this, as it would require us to introduce context menus in all tables. Maybe it's possible to pause table updates when the mouse button is pressed down.
