Revoke returning "revoke certificate response is empty"

PROBLEM SUMMARY
I attempted to revoke a certificate in Venafi SaaS from using vcert, and got the "revoke certificate response is empty" error message.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Got thumbprint from GUI.
2. Ran vcert revoke -p VCP -k 'API-KEY' -thumbprint 'Thumbprintfromstep1' --reason "cessation-of-operation" --comments "Testing from vCert" --verbose

EXPECTED RESULTS
Revokes certificate

ACTUAL RESULTS
Did not revoke certificate, and returned an error

ENVIRONMENT DETAILS
Venafi SaaS, and running the latest version of vCert as downloaded from this environment.

COMMENTS/WORKAROUNDS
Had a similar error with the renew.
