[BUG]: Minor Issue - Click on "System" the Plugin crash, GUI-Size shows no bottom option for "save and close"

• I have read the plugin manual and searched the existing issues.

What happened?

This GUI Issue happens at the first use after copy the VST Folder to my Plugin folder and start it in Bitwig. The "System" Option Bug remains.

0.2.1
VST3

- A clear and concise description of what the bug is:

System:

Double Click Icon for Settings, Click Others, Click System, Crash (No Gui, No Plugin).
Restarting/ Reload in Bitwig works perfect. This Bug remains.

GUI:

The init Size doesn't show the Bottom Icons for Save, Close, Reset Option in "Settings" and no Frequencies at the bottom of the Spectrum-Display.

Resizing the GUI Shows all, also in smaller Size. Later (after reload the Plugin several times) the Plugin shows all Details at any size.

i expexted to see all at the first start and have the option to turn it off. See all icons at any size.

I can't reproduce the bugs on macOS. The following questions may help me locate the issue:

Click on "System" the Plugin crash

• Does the plugin also crash when you click the 60 Hz on the same page?
• Does the ZL Equalizer 2 also crash when you click Others - System?

The init Size doesn't show the Bottom Icons for Save, Close, Reset Option in "Settings" and no Frequencies at the bottom of the Spectrum-Display.

• Have you ever installed an earlier version of this plugin?

Splitter:

i can switch to 60 hz without any issues,
i save the setting,
reload

but it crash also when i click the system icon, when 60hz is set up

I would guess it is a text rendering issue. The combobox in Other tab contains some UTF-8 text, such as 简体中文/日本語/Español. Since the font that comes with the plugin does not support those characters, the plugin will try to use a system font to render that.

Font rendering is a quite complicated thing. I will try to look for some related documentation. But I might not be able to fix it.

I don't know how the Fonts-Thing is working on the System.
The Mouse over Information for German Language and other Fonts seems working.
Looks like all the fonts are the same.
Are all the Fonts the Same?

My system has the libs:
libutf8proc2 2.8.0-1 installed

it is marked as unstable:

I also don't know how the font things work. Font rendering is one of the most complex things in a UI library. Usually JUCE will try to find a font for the text, then pass it to HarfBuzz for shaping, finally pass the shaping to rendering engine.

I would assume your computer uses German. Therefore:

• For German tooltips (mouse-over info), the plugin uses the system font, Good!
• For numbers and English text, the plugin uses the bundled Inter font, Good!
• For 简体中文/日本語/Español, the plugin should try to find a font for Chinese/Japanese/Spanish. If the plugin cannot find a suitable font, it should fallback gracefully. But I haven't reviewed the relevant code as it is too complicated.

Ah, i got it, you have "简体中文/日本語/Español" inside this Tab.

Well, i can live without click on "system" then, until a useable solution can be found. :)

I don't think you should. You won't miss anything if you can't click the System combobox. It just let you choose the language of the tooltips :) It is not worthy to install a font just for the tooltip options that you never need.
