Support for Gotosocial

Gotosocial is a quite popular instance software which is minimalist (it can run easily on Raspberry Pi 3 with 1GB RAM) and has privacy features by default, like interaction policies. Can you please add support or it?

Hello, I am also interested in this feature. My assessment is that the underlying https://pypi.org/project/Mastodon.py/ needs to be replaced with a generic ActivityPub library. A quick browse reveals these candidates:

1. https://pypi.org/project/activitypub-utils/
2. https://pypi.org/project/activitypub/ (appears not to be maintained)
3. https://pypi.org/project/minimal-activitypub/ (explicitly declare that they do not intend to support the full protocol)

From the code I see the following mastodon.py functionality being used:

• Mastodon->account_lookup
  -- https://marvinsmastodontools.codeberg.page/minimal-activitypub/api-methods.html#minimal_activitypub.client_2_server.ActivityPub.search
• Mastodon->account_search
  -- https://docs.barkshark.xyz/aputils/api/objects.html#aputils.Webfinger
  -- https://github.com/dsblank/activitypub/blob/master/activitypub/manager/ap_routes.py#L259, but also L8, L77, L97
• Mastodon->account_follow - can't find it.

Given the pretty chaotic situation, maybe this library would be more helpful as a way to establish a common baseline:

What do you think of this. I might be helping with the implementation.

@mapto I agree that we should replace Mastodon.py with a generic ActivityPub library but from what I can tell we'll probably still need to use some Mastodon/Gotosocila/any other instance specific APIs to support the full functionality of the site.

Any pull request that pushes us into the right direction, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated ❤️
