Thanks for your reports @sterretjeToo!
I verified that this bug still exists in 2.3.6.
This has now been fixed. It is at least progress towards a resolution of this issue.
This was caused by a mistake made by the community translator: Line 172 in 0f9f0d0
(note the lack of a space between the template placeholder c82961c#diff-e28b7779ca0f0c09f8e477273cb0c64b5c904cf9c7177cbe25b3e8de0a70a403R172 If you would like to contribute to the Dutch translations, it would be very welcome. This is done via the Transifex project here: https://explore.transifex.com/arduino-1/ide2/ The localization infrastructure is very streamlined and mostly automated, so you can be confident that Arduino will be able to ship any translation contributions you make to the users by the next production release of Arduino IDE.
The reason for this is that the "Verwerken" string is defined in the Arduino IDE 2.x codebase, and so is localized via this project's infrastructure: arduino-ide/arduino-ide-extension/src/browser/widgets/component-list/filterable-list-container.tsx Line 148 in 0f9f0d0
Line 150 in 0f9f0d0
but the rest of the message is coming from Arduino CLI and Arduino IDE 2.x can only display that text as received. We do have significant localization of Arduino CLI as well, but surprisingly we don't have Dutch locale coverage: https://explore.transifex.com/arduino-1/arduino-cli/ Arduino provides the internationalization capabilities, but localization is driven by the community. So if the community requests the addition of the Dutch locale to the Arduino CLI Transifex project, and then contributes translations for the strings of the Arduino CLI user interface, then the text that originates from Arduino CLI will automatically be localized to Dutch in the Arduino IDE UI, without any need for changes in the codebases or infrastructure of either project. |
Describe the problem
I just switched from using the IDE in English to using it in Dutch and noticed that some menu titles are not translated:
File
should beBestand
.(fixed!).Edit
should beBewerken
To reproduce
Change the language to Dutch in file -> preferences.
Expected behavior
Correct translations as in IDE 1.8.19
Arduino IDE version
