(IDK WHERE ELSE TO ASK THIS) Using Aegis for Steam Guard- How would I change my password?

so i recently set up my Steam Guard through Aegis using Steam Desktop Authenticator to get my secret code and allat. i want to change my Steam password, but now that Steam assumes i'm using the genuine Steam app to authenticate, it wants me to enter a different kind of code on a page i'd only find on that app instead of using the regular auth code (this is so fucking stupid).
is there a way to get around this without having to remove the authenticator, change my password, and then add it back?
