Feature Newly Added Transcripts on the homepage to increase discoverability #57

Currently, there is no functionality on our frontend that allows visitors to easily discover newly added transcripts. By implementing a feature to highlight these transcripts directly on the homepage, we can significantly enhance user engagement and provide visitors with fresh content to explore.

Additionally, considering the importance of accessibility to information, we should explore the possibility of incorporating an RSS feed into our frontend. While Hugo supports RSS feed creation, we have yet to enable it. By introducing an RSS feed, we can offer users another way to stay updated on newly added transcripts and seamlessly integrate our content with their preferred RSS readers.

Notes:

  • TLDR already has an RSS feed. Enabling RSS feeds across all our products lays the groundwork for easy aggregation of all published content into a single feed in the future.
  • I previously experimented with featuring newly added transcripts, but encountered challenges due to our existing Hugo setup. Primarily, our reliance on the date field for each transcript, which corresponds to the date of the original source material publication, complicates sorting by the transcript's actual publish date.
