Got this working perfect on LMDE6, on Lenovo T480, using the Howdy_3.0.0 debs, with the related custom python3-dlib package.
It only misses the dependencies for libdlib* and running the script to pull the dlib models in /etc/howdy.
All I had to do in config was set actual resolution max height to 400, resolution to 640 x 400, and specified /dev/video0 for the device.
adding user image worked no issues, as did login.
I realize this is someones fork but he also provided howdy and python3-dlib deb packaged for Debian 12 & 13.
Files are howdy_3.0.0.git20230625.c17a834-1_amd64_deb12.deb and python3-dlib_19.24.2-1_amd64_deb12.deb
I've searched for similar issues already, and my issue has not been reported yet.
Linux distribution (if applicable): LMDE6 //Debian12
Howdy version (sudo howdy version): 3.0.0 beta
