Documentation for adding *.otf (pro) files

In the documentation it is specified that font .otf definition can be added to root Tex folder:

fontawesome/fontawesome6/doc/fontawesome6.tex

However, it is missing what to add for the pro definition

I tried with FontAwesome6Pro-Regular-400.otf and this doesn't work.

What would be the right name to add?

I just figured out an option:

Rename the .otf Free and load the font without [pro] option. Then the pro icons will be also available (but only solid and regular).

Would be still nice to have all Pro features ...

Hi @karliwalti, the best way is to rely on the XeLaTeX/LuaLaTeX font manager by installing it on your system (and rebuild the font cache).
I cannot follow exactly what you've tried. Did you pass the fontname as an option to the fontawesome6 package? Adding a minimal working example (MWE) would be helpful.

Font Awesome 6 is available in both Free and Pro versions. By default, this package uses the Free version. If you have a Pro license and have installed the Font Awesome 6 Pro desktop fonts in your system font path, you can enable Pro support by loading the package with the |[pro]| option:

Which feature are you missing in Pro? I do not have a Pro license, therefore all new fontawesome7 features are missing. But with fa6 most should work. At least most features I am aware of.

Thank you for getting back so quickly. I also don't have access to fontawesome 7 pro, so would like to use fontawseome 6 pro. Also, I'd like to use it on overleaf where I don't have access to system level fonts.

I renamed Font Awesome 6 Pro-Solid-900.otf to FontAwesome6Free-Solid-900.otf and FontAwesome6Pro-Solid-900.otf and added both next to main.tex in my \TeX{} tree

With loading package this way:

\RequirePackage[style=solid]{fontawesome6}   

\faSquareHeart  Pro \\
\faHeart  Free

will output correctly. With the original FontAwesome6Free-Solid-900.otf the \faSquareHeart did not display.

\RequirePackage[style=solid, pro]{fontawesome6}   

\faSquareHeart  Pro \\
\faHeart  Free

will output nothing, error message Font TU/fontawesome6pro/solid/n/10.95=FontAwesome6Pro-Solid:script=latn; at 10.95pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file or installed font not found.

without configuring the "pro" the other styles are not available
