Are the maintainers still working on this project?

I was about to open a PR equivalent to #369 when I noticed #369 exists. Unfortunately, it dates back to November :/ The lack of love and 2+-year old issue questioning the crate's future doesn't bode well for it.

Hey, incredibly sorry about the lack of updates. I’ve been contacted by @kaleidawave, who uses codespan on enzo, and we’re currently seeing if we can get some of the old PRs merged, and a new release made.

@brendanzab The folks at spade-lang have forked codespan to add support for suggestion reporting -- thoughts on talking to them about merging that in as well? They ended up publishing their own fork as spade-codespan{-reporting}, I believe, on crates.io.

Ah, thanks for the headsup, let’s try to reach out to them as well.

Hello! Yes I have recently been granted permission to merge PRs. This morning I have been through and merged some simple outstanding PRs that change markdown, change examples, add helper functions, add LICENSE symlinks etc. Nothing that changes library code for the moment. The CI has not brought up any new issues and is still green for the current stable release.

As Brendan said, I use codespan in one of my projects and it is working really well. So after seeing issues like this, I offered to help on the the backlog of PRs and issues that has arisen and make sure that those who want to contribute can (and not resort to forking).

This weekend I will look some more at 1) larger PRs, 2) outstanding issues 3) dependencies 4) fixing the existing red in CI 5) clippy 6) the possibility of a release within this month with new any changes.

If there is anything you want me to prioritise let me know. The library code is all good, so I want to make sure that the repository is at the same level and "open for business".

Yes, I don't think it is too late. If they have forked it to get recent additions (and have not totally overhauled the codebase), we should try get them back to the base project!

Bit of a mirroring from our discussion on discord, but for future readers: we have not made any major changes as far as I'm aware, just added a prototype suggestion system
