Information about the dataplus? #3

This is not so much a bug as a related question...
I have a Dataplus 6, and have been wondering how hackable it was. I was very interested to find your tools. As far as I know it's the only source of technical information about these devices at all. Where did you get the information? Are the binaries which can be reverse engineered, or a proprietary SDK, etc? Or is it based around a standard reference implementation?
