2021/01/23 15:57:42 * esthar ERROR: in Invoke stage: while decoding updates: invalid character 't' in literal false (expecting 'l')

This is a recurring problem (and is masking another bug I need to fix!), and is annoying the Chipping Sodbury out of me. I'm not entirely sure how to fix it.

This is happening when the invoker panics. We maybe ought to install a panic recover.
