It may be useful to know how long codegen for each compilation unit takes, in order to spot big modules which may benefit from a refactor to improve build times.

This was originally proposed in #12942, taken up in #15514 which got merged but immediately reverted because the implementation broke building the nightly realse on macOS (#15514 (comment)).
