Drop-down menus on external monitor not displayed correctly #19599

Description

Is there an existing issue for this?

- I checked and did not find my issue in the already reported ones

This issue has already been observed for an older version of Darktable on Windows (see #3974)
I allowed myself to re-create a new issue as the one above was created more than five years ago, and as an occasion to add more context to the issue.

Describe the bug

Some drop-down menus are "shortly-displayed" on external monitor while extending display. Drop-downs are either not displayed, or shown with fewer choices than they really have, making them un-clickable.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Connect your device to an external monitor
  2. In the OS settings, extend the display (do not mirror the screen)
  3. Open Darktable
  4. Place the Darktable window on the external monitor
  5. Click or hover any drop-down menu
  6. Try the same with the Darktable window on a built-in display to compare

Expected behavior

Darktable should display drop-down menus as it does on any built-in monitor.

Note: The drop-down menu looks the same on an external monitor while mirroring.
