Setting a reconnect delay on GC blueretro?

So I want to dedicate my 8bitdo GC mod controller to use with blueretro, but whenever I turn off the GC with the button combo it comes right back on since the controller takes an extra moment to turn off. Is there any way to add a reconnect delay or something?

Mine doesn't do that, So you are pression analog L + analog R + start + A?

Doing that should turn off 8bitdo controller.

Is the controller connected for charging?

There is a brief period after turning off where the controller is seeking connections. Is it possible I need to update the 8bitdo board firmware?
