User Story

As a member of the AEDP team I want to conduct research and discovery on how veterans make decisions within personalized form flows, so that we can develop a pattern that ensures users are guided effectively through decision-making processes based on their personal information and unique circumstances.

Background

ACs

  • Investigate if there is existing research around user needs and preferences when interacting with personalized forms.
  • Identify any existing pain points where users struggle to understand why certain questions are being asked or how their answers impact the rest of the form flow.
  • Document our findings for review by the team

Review needed by

  • VA Product Owner
  • Product Manager
  • UX Research Team
  • Engineering Team

Definition of Done

  • Documentation has been updated, if applicable.
  • Acceptance Criteria in related issue are met.
  • Reviewers have approved.

We have determined that there are likely several patterns related to smarter form flows, but we'd like to first focus on the dynamic form flow pattern, which may include alerting the user that a shorter form is available, prefilling all known information and skipping those steps, alerting the user they are using a shorter form and other improved form flows.

The 1010 team has implemented some parts of this pattern and have some existing research on it which is linked below.
