Description

A DUW stakeholder (Joshua Gibbs) has discovered some incorrect text on Staging. Please see below for details and steps to reproduce (thanks to Michelle M!).

This change should apply to all instances where instructions for DoD Form 149 displays. There are different variations to shat displays, so searching code for instructions for DoD Form 149 would be better than following steps to reproduce, since it displays in varying ways.

Details

When a user follows the steps outlined below, the results page shows the following (screenshot), and the item number 6 and Item number 8 (the yellow shaded areas) need to be replaced as follows:

  • Replace the number 6 with number 14 in this sentence:
    • Current text: Pay special attention to item 6, which asks for the reason for your change.
    • New text: Pay special attention to item 14, which asks for the reason for your change.
  • Replace the number 8 with the number 16 in this sentence:
    • Current text: Item 8 asks for the date when you discovered the error or injustice you're asking the Board to address.
    • New text: Item 16 asks for the date when you discovered the error or injustice you're asking the Board to address.

Steps to Reproduce

Note: These steps are not the only steps to reproduce. You'll need to search the code to ensure all instructions for DoD Form 149 are corrected.

  • Branch of Service: Army
  • Year of discharge: 2008
  • Reason for changing paperwork: I was discharged due to my sexual orientation (including under the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy).
  • Category that best describes you: My discharge isn't honorable or under honorable conditions.
  • Information you want to change: No, I want to change only my characterization of discharge, re-enlistment code, separation code, or narrative reason for discharge.
  • Was your discharge the outcome of a general court-martial?: No, my discharge was administrative or the outcome of a special or summary court-martial.
  • Have you previously applied for and been denied a discharge upgrade for this period of service?: No
  • Completed an earlier period of service?: No, I didn’t complete an earlier period of service.

User story

AS A Veteran looking at a DUW results screen that has instructions for DoD Form 149
I WANT the Item numbers referenced in the instructions to match up with the items numbers on the form
SO THAT I'm not confused when I go from the instructions to the form to complete it.

@FranECross I did find one other discrepancy that I will update for this.
Item 6b doesn't exist on form 149 so I updated it to 11b.
