Be kind. Assume the other person is trying to get something right. Argue about the statistics, not about the person doing them.

Things that help:
- Welcoming and inclusive language.
- Respecting differing viewpoints and experiences — including differing views on statistical method, which this project will have a lot of.
- Accepting constructive criticism gracefully. If someone finds a real error in an estimator, they have done the project a favour, and that is true no matter how it was phrased.
- Focusing on what is best for people who will rely on these numbers.
Things that do not:
- Sexualised language or imagery, and unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
- Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks.
- Public or private harassment.
- Publishing others' private information without explicit permission.
- Condescension about what someone does not know yet. Statistics is large and nobody has all of it; "you should already know this" is never a useful contribution.
Maintainers are responsible for clarifying standards and will take fair corrective action in response to behaviour they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive or harmful. They may remove, edit or reject contributions that do not align with this Code of Conduct, and will explain moderation decisions when asked.
Report unacceptable behaviour by opening a private security advisory on the repository, which is the only private channel this project has. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly, and the reporter's privacy and security will be respected.
