s905x4 built-in PHY (100M) not detected, no eth0

Hello,
I have an android box with 2GB of RAM, based on s905x4 SoC, LAN based on built-in PHY (no external PHY is used)
When I try to run latest image I see no eth interface (haven't tested older images yet). Have tested with all s905x4 dtbs, none worked.
Any clues? Let me know what else can I check/change to make it work. As a hint I can tell it works without any problems under CoreELEC distro.

could you check this archive to see if something can be useful for adding built-in PHY support? If you find time I'll be really gratefull to get slight guidance how to solve this. Is it related to some drivers source code or just some changes in dts/dtsi files?

These are old DTB's from some vendor kernel (where did you get these?). They will not work for a mainline kernel.

Further, the problem is not in the DTB. The clock driver I use is an old, forward ported, 4.9 vendor kernel clock driver. For some reason that driver is missing a clock (IIRC CLKID_MPLL2) needed for 100M ethernet. So all you have to do is find a clock driver from a newer vendor kernel and forward port that to mainline.

I am in the process of replacing all old SC2 code with newer (mainline combined with 5.15 Vendor) versions. This takes a lot of time. So if you could provide the newer clock driver, that would be great!

Found them somewhere on the web some time ago. I thought maybe some parts of those DTSes might be reused.
Any clues regarding file names of the clock driver? If I could get access to AOSP source code, what kernel version we might be looking for to get the right clock driver?

Well, the SoC does not have the memory, a USB port and the Wifi module on chip as well, so.... 😉

Don't your board have two sides? So even here you manage to give only half an answer 😀?
And you still didn't mention which box you have? Which configs did you try?

Anyway... looking at the board, it is the same board as in a X96 Max+ Ultra. I have never seen a gigabit version of that. On this side of the board there is no gigabit PHY (you see the place where it could have been, but it is empty). So if you bought this board as a gibgabit board... You were scammed and it's fake (unless another type of gigabit PHY is on the other side of the board). Sorry.

Try box config x96maxplusultra and it will probably work with 100 MBit.

Booted from USB, I confirm build-in PHY (100M) is visible in the system.

The new release should now support 100Mbit ethernet for S905X4 based boxes.
