do-release-upgrade and upgrade kernel

I did:

apt update
apt upgrade -y
apt install update-manager-core
do-release-upgrade

now after lsb_release -a I have:

No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID:	Ubuntu
Description:	Ubuntu 25.10

Codename:	questing

and after uname -r

6.12.37-meson64

🤔 how it is possible that after upgrade kernel is not upgrading?

I checked dpkg --get-selections | grep hold and there is no hold on kernel packages

so second question is it safe to do the upgradewe? can I use on s905x3 mainline kernel without extra patches...? after release upgrade all works fine for me
