Two libpq versions

It would be nice to ship two versions of the binary tools, the current version and the version before.

I think the app should stick with latest binary tools, now we're at REL_18_3.

In my opinion, version 18 is backward compatible. If version 18 does not work, the user can add the PostgreSQL Binary Path and set version 17 as the default instead. Personally, I find getting compiled PostgreSQL binaries and libraries from theseus-rs/postgresql-binaries to be the easiest option and add them in PostgreSQL Binary Path accordingly. This works well for me when working with legacy databases.

What do you think? If my opinion works for you, we shouldn't need to ship a separate version of the binary tools with pgAdmin4.

Die this work without compromising the sandbox further?

While this doesn't require extra permissions, I'm unsure if this approach could compromise the sandbox. However, I assume your concern is that it calls binaries outside the sandbox, which may go against the purpose of a sandboxed environment. Did I understand you correctly?

I would think, that you need to expose some folders, so that you can "select binary path" - as we by default don't expose any folders?

I didn't expose any folders when reproducing the screenshot, but I was still able to select the binary through the desktop environment file picker. pgAdmin4 get the parent path and able to validate the binaries correctly. The configured path for "Select binary path..." ends up as /run/user/1000/doc/xxxxxxxx/bin, which is an xdg-document-portal FUSE mount.

Would this works without compromising the sandbox?

It works for me, in case you're asking. Below is a gif of my screencast using pgadmin4 v9.15 flatpak with no folders exposed, using the default permission configuration.
