Windows 11 reference to home (~) not recongized in file dialog.

Describe the bug
When trying to open a file the home directory symbol ~ is not recognized.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Attemp to open a file ctrl-o
2. Type home symbol ~
4. Contents of home directory is not displayed.

Expected behavior
I was expecting to see the same behaviour as if I had navigated to c: | Users | UserName

I haven't checked on Linux to see if this is across platforms.
