🏷️Speaker Name: Shakya Peiris
✉️Speaker Title: Student at Ananda College | Postman Student Expert | SlingShot Ahead Verified Student

He was also a top user on StackOverflow in early 2023, with the potential to reach almost 10K users by November 2023. Most of his contributions are on web-based projects, and he is a competitive programmer as well. Shakya is an NOI finalist and a winner of many quizzes and web development competitions, including SLIIT CodeFest Quiz and IIT Cutting Edge Coding Competition. 💡The duration of the talk should be limited to 30 minutes.
📖Abstract of your talk
In this talk, I will delve into the inception of my programming journey, detailing the initial steps I took and highlighting key contributions made during my ongoing open-source endeavors. Additionally, I aim to share insights on how individuals with a curiosity about open source can embark on their own journeys.
🤝How will the talk help you and the community you represent?
This will mark my second tech talk, with my initial presentation dating back almost two years during the Colombo Javascript Meetup. My public speaking skills have become rusty over this period. Therefore, I actively sought an opportunity that would allow me to speak with a fair margin of error. The fact that this talk caters to beginners felt like the perfect opportunity for me.
Additionally, pursuing one of my side dreams to become a lecturer, I hope this talk contributes positively towards that aspiration.
I anticipate that this talk will serve as an extension of the last two community calls by Nisal Renuja and Zainab Fahim. The focus will primarily be on beginners like myself. Throughout the session, I'll be sharing my open-source journey, starting as a nervous newcomer and progressing to a level where I felt confident enough to contribute to an open-source project by IBM. Depending on time constraints, I also plan to share my experiences as an open-source project owner.
Hi @shakyapeiris ! This is very good stuff and we certainly appreciate you taking time to submit your talk proposal. Unfortunately, we had to move forward with another talk proposal for November.
If you still like your proposal to be considered for December, please change the issue title and we're happy to reconsider.
