[Improvement] Start the app in group mode by default and persist view mode between restarts

Hello,

Is there a setting to launch the app in group mode by default?
Also, is it possible to remember the selected view mode so that it’s retained after restarting the app?

Hello Mohamed,

Thank you for reporting this. I will try to help. What you're asking about should work by default, but please make sure that you're using the latest app version (v1.4.1).

In order to assign a group to a concrete host you should define a group in your host details:

Then just save the host and press z button in order to select this group. There is no need to create the group explicily anywhere.

When you restart the app, then previously selected hostname and group should be selected by default. In other words application state should be preserved across app restarts.

If something isn't working as expected, I will send you exact instruction to follow and will ask you to send me the application log.

I realize I wasn’t clear enough in my request.
I’d like the app to always start in the “group” view.

I use the yaml file to populate the app.

Ah, my bad, I didn't understand the question. You want the app to display the group list as a "welcome screen".

Unfortunately it's not currently possible. But I'll think how to make this change. The implementation is relatively easy. But there is a bigger complexity still. Probably there will be users who wouldn't want to change the default behavior. For instance I myself work with a single group of hosts and very rarely open other groups.

In other words, there should be some flexibility here to let users to override the default view. Unfortunately, there is no settings screen at the moment. And this is where I would put this parameter.

I will leave your request open and will add this once I implement a separate UI component for settings. I do not want to overpromise - it may take some amount of time.
