Describe the bug
Recently (past 1-2 weeks), whenever I try to open the profile tab (see picture below) in Chrome, It will close before I can finish opening it. If I close amethyst, I can use the tab as expected.

I also have issues with context menus in intellij closing sooner than expected. This causes the unfortunate situation of having to close amethyst pretty regularly.

Applications:
What applications are involved? Chrome , Intellij

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open Chrome (126.0.6478.127)
  2. Open Profile section (letter J below)
image 3. Move mouse downward to select profile

Expected behavior
A clear and concise description of what you expected to happen.
I should be able to select profile with no issues. However, the window closes before I can edit it

Screenshots
If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem.

Versions:

  • macOS: 14.5 (23F79)
  • Amethyst: 0.21.0

Debug Info

$ /Applications/Amethyst.app/Contents/MacOS/Amethyst --debug-info [--include-apps]

Note: --include-apps will list your manageable applications, but is optional if you don't want to list that.

I second this post. I am now having the same issue as the OP here.

Describe the bug
Recently, (as of 09/10/2024), whenever I try to open the profile menu, extensions menu, downloads menu, or specific extensions (see loom below) in Chrome, it will close before I can finish opening it. If I close amethyst, I can use the tab as expected.

Additionally, some small floating windows (like the macOS About This Mac window) will not persist in the foreground with other windows. The second they come to the foreground they disappear.

This causes the unfortunate situation of having to close amethyst pretty regularly.

Applications:
What applications are involved?

  • Chrome
  • macOS About This Mac window.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

For Chrome:

  1. Make sure Amethyst is running (0.21.1)
  2. Open Chrome (128.0.6613.120)
  3. Open Profile menu, extensions menu, or downloads menu.
  4. Move mouse downward to select an item on menu

For macOS About Window:

  1. Make sure Amethyst is running (0.21.1)
  2. Click on Apple icon in left-side of Menu bar.
  3. Select About This Mac.
  4. Watch the window appear in the foreground then disappear.

Expected behavior
A clear and concise description of what you expected to happen.

For Chrome:
I should be able to select profile with no issues. However, the window closes before I can edit it

For About This Mac window:
The window should persist in the foreground when opened.

Screenshots
If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem.

Here is a Loom recording demonstrating both problems.

Versions:

  • Chip: Apple M1 Pro
  • macOS: 14.5 (23F79)
  • Amethyst: 0.21.1 (111)
  • Chrome: 128.0.6613.120

Debug Info

 $ /Applications/Amethyst.app/Contents/MacOS/Amethyst --debug-info [--include-apps]

Note: --include-apps will list your manageable applications, but is optional if you don't want to list that.

@Joboman555 ,

I think I have a temporary fix for this issue. When I deselect the setting "Focus follows mouse" on the Preferences-->Mouse screen it appears to fix the symptoms we described above with Chrome and other apps. While I think I wanted the setting originally, this at least enables me to keep using Amethyst for the time being until some kind of long-term solution is reached.

That is working for me, at least. Do you have that setting selected? Does deselecting it resolve your symptoms?
