Elections

All material here is under the purview of the in-toto governance as described in the GOVERNANCE.md document. As such, any conflicts in the claims of these document are resolved in favor of the governance's.

Elections Process

Elections for the in-toto steering committee shall be held within a month's time window, covering two phases: nomination and voting.

Nominations

Candidates can be nominated in one of three ways:

  1. By directly contacting an itsc member.
  2. Through a comment under the relevant election issue under this repository.
  3. Via an email to the in-toto-community mailing list.

Candidates can be nominated, and self-nominate, as long as they are eligible. Nominations are available for the first two weeks of the election cycle.

Nomination Eligiblity

All members of the in-toto community can be nominated. A member of the community is defined in the governance document. In case of ambiguity, sitting itsc members can cast a vote to determine whether a candidate is elegible or not.

Voting process & elegibility

The itsc will indicate where votes can be cast. No platform shall be enforced in this document. For particular voting locations and records see the document below.

In order to avoid abuse, only in-toto community members are elegible to vote, as described by the governance document. The ITSC reserves the right to discard votes if a voter is not deemed part of the community yet.

Given the above, a voter's identity will be made known to the ITSC and the ITSC only. However, their vote should not be known to itsc members, as it is not required to confirm elegibility.

Counting and results

The sitting ITSC will verify and count the votes at the end of the month, and announce results within a week of the month's end.

The week following will carry out transition of duties between sitting members end elected members.

Upcoming Elections

04/04/2026

There are two positions open for election during thiks period. We thank @Trishankdatadog and @colek42 for their contributions to the project and their stewardship of the community.

Given the governance document, these are two industry roles, and as such candidates elegible should be industry candidates.
