(automatically) signing signature form fields

The PDF standard supports form fields that are intended for signatures (pdfsig shows them enumerated as Signature #1: plus their name and signature). Is it possible to add a signature to one (or more) of these form fields? I could not find anything about that in the command line options, the GUI, or the issues. It would be really helpful to support signing these fields.

I know that I can select where I "place" my signature there in the PDF but how is that related to actually filling out specific form fields?

As I know, JSignPdf haven't relation with form fields, isn't possible for now to define what will be the form field that will receive the signature. For now you need to set the position that the signature will be put at the document and when you will click at sign button, will be created a new field at the document during the signature flow to add your visible signature.

I think that this is the first issue related to this and sounds as request to a new feature.

I'm not a Java developer, but programmatically you can search a specific field with a specific name at your PDF that match as a signature field, get the page and coordinates of this field and after this, sign the document using the CLI of JSignPdf if you are using JSignPdf as a signature engine to another application like LibreSign do, but also at LibreSign side, haven't this feature implemented yet. Could be a good new feature at LibreSign side...
