What npm version are you running? Can you check if this postinstall step ran?

note that we patch some stuff, see first link for the recipe, like forcing some stuff to use Java 21 (default in F-Droid since January) and non-FLOSS clean ups

I'm testing locally with Java 17 now, to see if this is the issue

Unrelated: all of that dance to build Olm is useless, it doesn't get bundled on mobile. You might as well delete it from node-modules.

Not sure what the problem could be. Have you checked our CI script to see if there is any step missing in yours?

There's a missing gradle :sdk:clean but iirc I tested that and did not help

We just run npm install then gradle assembleRelease and your code should do the rest

Nope. Looking into it. Could be that the build isn't seeing autolinking.json at the moment gradle runs.

cat android/build/generated/autolinking/autolinking.json | grep async-storage
right before the gradle step to check?

I don't have a generated/ folder

there's no autolinking.json anywhere

I'll rerun and move paths a bit

We merged a rework/fix around this today. Can you check again, see if you end up in the same situation.

Can you try to run npm run android-autolinking immediately before gradlew assembleRelease, so it's regenerated right before gradle reads it?
