provide the progress as feedback to the student - similar to the teacher statistics view. this is a simple yet very motivating feature.
possible implementations:

• color highlighting: grey -> yellow -> green
• motivational phrases: nothing here yet -> way to go -> awesome, all done
• simple icons to indicate progress, eg stars, check mark, ..
• simple graphs
