What happened?

When adding the applet to any panel, the CPU usage increases significantly (on my AMD Ryzen 5 5500U about 10%). This started happening after the upgrade of the applet to version 2.0.0. All subsequent updates didn't fix the issue. The CPU usage increase can be also seen in the system monitor.

Other information

First Screenshot: CPU usage without adding the applet to the panel.

Second Screenshot: CPU usage with using the applet. I added the applet after about 10 seconds. The usage therefore, as it can be seen, increases slightly before the 20 seconds mark.

Multi-Core System Monitor 2.2.1 - Uninstalled old and reinstalled new version and clicked on Refresh All

When Multi-Core System Monitor is removed, CPU usage on all cores immediately returns to the the 0%-3% range when idle, as is normal, instead of the steady 5%-15% or so when Multi-Core System Monitor is in use.

Without Multi-Core System Monitor CPU usage ~ 2% total, with System Monitor running ~ 10%.

Same here. I think this might be the root of the high CPU use issue I'm seeing with Cinnamon https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues/13005

Starting with version 2.9.0 of multicore-sys-monitor@ccadeptic23, data retrieval time has been reduced by a factor of 50!
