What's the problem?

Once I installed FlareVM in my Windows 11 VM, the screen had a reddish tinge and stated that internet access was enabled. Every subsequent time I have powered on the VM (VMWare), I have not had internet access. I have been unable to regain internet access and am thus unable to complete assignments that are long since past-due, due to the technical issues I've encountered. I've reached out to the professor for assistance, but to no avail.
I have tried switching, in VM settings, to "Bridged" (it defaults to NAT), but nothing changes. I obviously don't want my actual desktop to be overly connected to the VM, as I will be using FlareVM for malware analysis. I have a Remnux VM as well, and I'm supposed to somehow connect it with FlareVM, but I've no idea how to accomplish this. Any pointers on regaining internet access and connecting FlareVM to Remnux? The biggest concern is the lack of internet access.

Thank you! I am most grateful for any assistance you may provide.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Log in..
  2. Look at the Internet connection logo in the taskbar.
  3. See that it states there's an Internet connection.
  4. Attempt to access a website in any browser.
  5. See the browser state that I'm offline.
  6. Look at the Internet connection logo again and see that there is no Internet connection.

Environment

  • VMWare Workstation Pro
  • VM OS: I installed FlareVM on a Windows 11 Pro 64-bit VM, but the command (Get-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion") | Select-Object -Property ProductName,DisplayVersion states Windows 10 Pro 24H2.
  • Powershell Version: 5.1.26100.2161
  • Chocolatey Version: 2.4.2
  • Boxstarter Version: I'm having troubling determining this. Maybe 1.0?

Additional Information

I cannot find anything for either of the log files mentioned above.

The only "fix" I've found is to revert back to a previous screenshot in which I had Internet access. If at any point in the session Internet access was lost, and the VM was still open and running, even reverting back to a previous screenshot results in loss of Internet connection in the VM. The FlareVM desktop will have a red tinge, and text indicating that Internet access is enabled, but it goes away after just a few seconds and will not reconnect. My next step was to shut down the VM, close VMWare, and restart my computer. When it booted back up and I opened VMWare and FlareVM again (the previous snapshot in which I had Internet access), all was fine and functional.
