Is it possible to disable certain component from being re-rendered into Material?

We have a select box would like to convert into searchable select box given a long list of options, I want to use jquery select2 to target the vanilla select control. Is it possible?

I'm not sure I'm following your question about jQuery, but MWC's select elements do not use a native <select>, so I would assume that jQuery will not work with it.

Yes exactly, it shadows the vanilla component and renders it differently, hence my question about if I can disable MWC shadowing the original and leave it alone.

The components are form associated custom elements. They do not use a <select> element.

I believe you're talking about an autocomplete component. It's not simple, there's quite a lot of complexity to it to get the right accessibility, and unfortunately there's no new component development for the project right now.
