That is a strange case. Try winget upgrade --id GodotEngine.GodotEngine.Mono

I'm suspecting something in the correlation isn't working correctly. If the above command works and your original one fails, I suspect that's a bug in WinGet. There might already be an issue filed for that.

Symbolic links are only available to an "administrator" or if Developer Mode is enabled.
If neither of the above is true, WinGet will add a path entry, which should still work.

We've done some improvements related to how portable packages are treated. Usually, the symbolic links will fail for cases where the executable needs to be collocated with other DLLs. We've added some improvements to the schema in:

I'm suspecting something in the correlation isn't working correctly. If the above command works and your original one fails, I suspect that's a bug in WinGet. There might already be an issue filed for that.

@denelon, despite having since run winget install GodotEngine.GodotEngine.Mono, winget upgrade --id GodotEngine.GodotEngine.Mono now erroneously returns "No installed package found matching input criteria." I presume that this is a generic failure message that's returned even when a package merely has no updates? It's a little ambiguous.

Considering that this may be a problem with $Env:PATH, the undermentioned output may be relevant, which is produced when godot in $Env:PATH is invoked, or when its full path is invoked, with &, or in cmd (albeit not Start-Process, strangely):

Yes, (Get-Command godot).FileVersionInfo.FileName does return $Home\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WinGet\Links\godot.exe after merely winget install GodotEngine.GodotEngine.Mono.

Ultimately, since reinstallation appeared to have updated it, I presume that I'll need to wait until the next update occurs. I'll attempt to remember to revisit this if it does. This is confusing enough that I shan't bother to revert to a previous version to evaluate what the cause is yet.

I'm glad a reinstall seems to have fixed the issue. If we can get verbose logs and a solid reproduction of what happened, I should be able to isolate it to WinGet, the manifest, or the installer.
