CodeMechine-CLI has been spending over 4 hours to code a basic multi-language Astro JS 5 blog with React, Shadcn and Tailwind. The coding is still not finished (interrupted because of Claude limit). Windsurf did that in 25 minutes with the same prompt and my occasional "approve".
It is true that CodeMachine-CLI produce very high-quality specifications but am I doing something wrong. Any quick pointer from the devlopers would be very much appreciated.

To make things easier and save time, you can add your preferences to your specs, especially details like the number of users and your project size. You can check the documentation for a recommended specs schema.

But for now this template is currently works best for medium to large projects. Significant improvements to the preferences system will be included in the next versions.

If the bot stops during code generation, don’t worry, when you start it, it will automatically continue from where it left off.

For manual execution in planning phases the easiest way to perform manual execution in CodeMachine is by using the command:

codemachine step <agentID> "You have implemented plan iterations 1 and 2, and will start from iteration 3"

You can fully manage the step indexing through .codemachine/template.json.

When you add a step number to completedSteps, it will be marked as done and skipped in the next run.
The first value in notCompletedSteps is used by the bot to resume from the last running agent..

We’re currently working on a major v0.4.0 update, which will make the workflow much more flexible with the introduction of a new UI system.

Woudl it make sense to graft Claude skills in my project folder (I use Claude Code in VS code with CodeMachine), for example to provide documentation/context for using better-auth authentication in Astro JS, or for implementing Stripe or any specific database schemes, etc?
Would that inteerefere with Codemachine? Is there any plan to integrate Claude skills/plugins in the future? Thank you

Yes, providing more context is always helpful for the AI engine. The best practice is to reference the relevant file location in your specs the first time you run it, before starting the planning phase.

If your tasks are already broken down, you can manually use Claude Code to point each task to the required file path and the required context. This way, the Context Manager agent can automatically retrieve the necessary context from those files and deliver higher-quality results.

In docs/customizing-workflows.md the config/ directory is mentioned but there is no such a directory in my project. My undestanding is that it shoud be there. Right?

Good point! To customize your own workflow, you’ll find all workflows in the CodeMachine's root folder. It’s very easy to create your own workflow and add custom agents.

To get started, follow these steps:

npm uninstall -g codemachine
git clone https://github.com/moazbuilds/CodeMachine-CLI.git
cd CodeMachine-CLI
npm install
npm run build
npm link

The npm link command makes CodeMachine globally accessible using the codemachine command.

Next, modify your configuration, templates, and prompts as described in docs/customizing-workflows.md. These modifications will apply globally across any project you’re working on.
