NG Extension Manager - Update

New Features & Improvements

1. Permission Boxes with Descriptions

We’ve added descriptions for permission boxes to provide clarity to users who may not fully understand what each permission entails. This makes it easier for users to decide which permissions they want to grant or deny.

2. Options Page Added

A new Options page has been added with several key features:

• Download your data: You can now download the data stored by NG Extension Manager.
• Manage your extensions: View and export details of your installed extensions.
• Export data: Currently, exporting data is supported, but importing it is not yet available.

3. Personalization (Nicknames and Icons)

You now have the ability to:

• Change extension nicknames and icons directly from the Options page. These changes are saved in Local Storage and persist indefinitely unless you reset them.
• To reset an icon or nickname, simply leave the input field blank, and the extension will revert to its default settings.

⚠️ Note: This feature is currently only available on the Options page. However, we are considering expanding it to the entire NG Extension Manager, including the Popup and Details views. Stay tuned for updates!

4. Design Improvements

Several design adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience:

• We’ve started migrating from Material Icons to Streamline’s free icons. These icons are available offline, improving performance for users without an internet connection.
• Be aware that this switch to offline icons increases the overall storage usage of the extension.

5. Discussion: NG Extension Manager Lite

We would love your feedback! 💬

• Should we release a "Lite" version of NG Extension Manager? This version would use less storage but might receive updates less frequently compared to the main version.
• Keep in mind, managing two separate projects could delay updates for both versions. We'd appreciate your input—let us know your thoughts in the comments below! 😎

6. Safe to Share Data

The data you download from the Options page is completely safe to share. In fact, sharing your data when contacting support can help us assist you more effectively. For faster support, please provide the extension version you're using.
