If downloading with Kindle for PC, use 2.4.0 (70904) aka 2.4.70904. Update to DeDRM 10.0.9 and install the KFX Input plugin. Then be sure to add the correct file to calibre. It will have a blue book icon. See method 2a at this post for info on preventing updates: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361503

If you are using "download & transfer via usb" for an E-ink Kindle (not a Fire), enter the Kindle's serial number into DeDRM's customization.
